For generations, the clan's children have suffered unspeakable acts of rape, child abuse, incest, and psychological torture. Incredibly written, I couldn't put this book down. Davis succeeds in describing the intolerable acts society will ignore when we take on an attitude of 'us' and 'them'.

The stark reality of life on the mountain makes it hard at times to read through her amazing descriptive passages. The story however pulls you in and the ending is tense. A good read.

Awesome book! Loved the story and would recommend it to all. Gritty and raw .

This is a very good but tragic piece of fiction that is modeled around a real life situation in Nova Scotia in the 70's. You can't stop yourself from being pulled into the story or bonding with the characters. The ending is tense and the last 30 pages are impossible to put down.

This was a great book! The relationships were unique and I loved how the plot and characters all connected.
