Nebula Award-winning author Elizabeth Moon makes her triumphant return to fantasy with the fourth in the bestselling series. The Eight Kingdoms are under threat. Throughout the north, magic is re-emerging after centuries of absence. This is bad enough in lands where such powers are not considered illegal, but some kingdoms are instituting programs - killing everyone in whom the powers emerge. With one very determined traitor at work intent on undoing any effort at peace, the future hangs in the balance. It is only the dedication of a few resolute heroes who can turn the tides - if they can survive.

As always, Elizabeth Moon delivers well written, intriguing fantasy. This fourth entry in the Paladin's Legacy series continues the story actually begun in The Sheepfarmer's Daughter, first of The Deed of Paksenarrion series. If you haven't read it, do give it a try.
