When Lucy Lovett's husband loses his job, she is forced to give up her posh London life and move their family to a tiny apartment in the East Village in Manhattan. Though homesick and resentful at first, Lucy soon finds herself embarking on an exhilarating new love affair - with New York City and the three women who befriend her. Spot-on observant and very entertaining.

4 stars! Quite enjoyed this charming read. Character sketches in style similar to Maeve Binchey and Miss Read. We see that urban living can encompass the charm of village life.

(King's Bay Book Selection: 5-19-2014). Robyn Skinner was the easiest character to relate to, but the most disagreeable of the lot. I will say here that this book was better the second time through, but that's not saying much as it was a chore to read the first time.

What a slog to get through. I was lured in by the comparison on the jacket to "Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing", but this had none of the wit, humor or insight of that book. The four main characters were so indistinct, I kept mixing them up in my mind, and all were unsympathetic.

The most tedious boring novel EVER! I tried to give it a chance and got 1/2 way through and gave up. Didn't care one iota about the self-indulgent characters in this novel. Ugh!
