This is the last and by far the best book in this vampire trilogy. I neither loved nor hated the previous 2 books in the series and truth be told, I basically read this book because the e-book was available to borrow and I felt compelled to finish the series. I initially picked up the first book because I am fond of Guillermo del Toro's movie "Pan's Labyrinth". He undoubtedly has a vivid imagination and although it was fun reading a vampire book set in New York City (with the bulk of it taking place in Manhattan) I think I must be over the whole "vampire thing". The characters were so-so and a bit cliched and to paraphrase another reviewer on this page, this book (and series) was pretty boring. The dialog was a bit too...cinematic (for lack of a better word). The dialog reads like movie dialog and the whole series feels like a book that knows it's going to be made into a movie one day. All in all "Night Eternal" was a satisfying conclusion to a pretty average trilogy. If you like vampire stories, give it a try. If you're looking for a new and exciting take on the 'ole vampire tale, you may want to look elsewhere.
