Well written, with a good feel for Japanese culture but there is a big BUT. The main character has some martial arts training with some added street fighting experience. Through-out the entire book he is up against a ninja-type clan with thirty generations of fighting training and unlimited financial resources. They are supposed to be the badest killers ever. Single-handedly he defeats them one on one or in groups plus the most improbable luck and chance are always on his side. Once or twice, OK: he's the main character and the reader is on his side but when EVERY time he is up against these world-class ninjas he wins, it becomes actually boring. The book turns into the worst novel of wish-fulfillment I have ever read.
