"The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", 1947, stars the incredibly talented and extremely likable Danny Kaye. Kaye was 36 years old and made audiences delighted to watch him perform. In this movie, I was a little disappointed with how the producers and directors skewed the James Thurber short story to make it more vaudeville with comedy the demanded motif. I read the James Thurber story years ago and I believe he wrote it with the average man's fantasies of adventure being carried out in his mind as he goes about the realities of his mundane life. Maybe I am too adult and too expectant to appreciate the 1947 production. Was I child I would be delighted with the movie sets, costuming, and technicolor. People living today don't remember when the word and world of TECHNICOLOR was a mantra for the movie industry. The co-stars are what make the film succeed.
