I usually love the Fear Street novels, but this one was so disappointing. It seemed to jump all over the place. Stine seemed to spend a lot of time describing what characters looked like, and how the main character thought they could look better in her opinion, instead of writing about the characters' traits and making them into fully fleshed out characters. Parts of it seemed to read like one of those "how men write female characters" memes, with the female lead looking at herself in the mirror and making ridiculous statements no woman would make about her appearance. True to Stine's style, he had the traditional "twist ending" that is supposed to tie everything together, blow the reader's mind, and come just enough out of left field to not be truly predictable. This "twist" seemed like something out of a bad 80's soap opera, though. Without giving anything away, it wasn't all just a dream, but it may as well have been with that ending. Overall, this is my least favourite of all of Stine's books. I think I would've gotten more out of reading a few of his Goosebumps books than this one.
